ASSIGNMENT 6 2025
DUE: SEPT 2025 (MEMO)
, PYC2612 Assignment 6 2025
Reflection on Child and Adolescent Development Module
A1: Reflection on Learning and Module Outcomes
A1.1 Reflecting on Learning Relative to Module Outcomes
The module outcomes outlined the key learning targets for Child and Adolescent Development
for example, explaining normal developmental characteristics, examining major theories,
analyzing influences on development, and identifying strategies to support growth. As for linking
every learning activity to these outcomes, the course followed an outcomes-based or
constructive alignment approach. In this approach, the intended outcomes are defined first and
all teaching and assessment are designed to achieve them.
Reflecting on my own learning, I found that understanding these outcomes early helped me
focus on the most important content: I paid special attention to how chapters and assignments
addressed each outcome. For example, in studying the domain of cognitive development, I was
able to connect the material such as Piaget’s stages)directly back to the outcome of explaining
children’s cognitive characteristics. The course content emphasized several perspectives on
development, biological, psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive-developmental, and contextual,
each of which corresponded to an outcome. This helped me systematically grasp each area.
A1.2 Reflecting on How Assignments Linked to Outcomes
Each assignment in the module reinforced specific outcomes. For example, when we wrote
essays or case analyses on developmental theories, those tasks directly supported the outcome
of “explaining selected theories of development.” These assignments required me to engage
deeply with theoretical material and applying theory to real examples, which reinforced my
understanding of cognitive and socio-emotional development as per the course goals.
