LEARNING OBJECTIVE(S)
These must be behavioral and measurable.
Statements of what students will know, understand, and be able to do at the end of the lesson
(consider all three domains). Include condition, performance, and criterion.
Given crafting materials and choice of template, students will construct a 3 dimensional shape
to scale, find the area of each side, and volume of object to 100% accuracy.
BEGINNING: LAUNCH/HOOK/ANTICIPATORY SET
How will you get the lesson started? What questions, texts, inquiry, modeling, and/or other
techniques will you use to engage students?
, -The days objective will be written on white board “Given crafting materials and choice of
template, students will construct a 3-dimensional shape to scale, find the area of each side, and
volume of object to 100% accuracy.”
-Students know to start working on their entry work pages independently for 15 minutes. Each
student will be required to define each new vocabulary word utilizing their textbook glossary
and complete the refresher questions.
-Students will then be instructed to work together (Heterogeneous Grouping) to check the
answers of their entry work pages and correct any mistakes.
-They will then pair with a person next to them to work together to compile a definition for
each vocab word.
-The pairs take turns share definitions with the class and teacher will facilitate cooperating all
ideas into a true definition (Active Participation: Think-Pair-Share). As the class is discuss
each vocabulary word the teacher will display images on the smart board to help the ELL
students with comprehension (Differentiation).
-Teacher will display a formula for finding volume of a three-dimensional shape and display a
shape with all dimensions on the smart board.
-The groups will work together to find the volume.
-One student group at time will demonstrate a step in order until completion on the smart
board until the correct process and answer is taught to the entire group (Student-Centered
Technology), the teach will be facilitated as needed and asking questions of how a group made
a decision, guiding them in the correct direction.
-Students will have a few minutes to make a list of mistakes they made with the problems,
groups will share common mistakes and teacher will list on white board.
MIDDLE: INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES TO FACILITATE STUDENT LEARNING
For example: How will you engage students with ideas/texts to develop understanding? What
questions will you ask? How will you promote question generation/discussion? What activities
will you use to engage students in learning—for individuals, small groups, or the whole class?
How will you incorporate technology? How will you address the academic language demands?
Detail your plan. Note: For math lesson plans, please write or attach every task/problem
students will solve during the lesson—with the correct answers.
Instruction/Modeling -Teacher will provide directions for assessment project
(Formative Assessment: Product Assessment).
-After the instructions are given the student will be
allowed to get up by groups to get the required supplies
and to pick out one of the shape templates.
-The students will be required to build a 3D shape to
scale from the templates provided.
-They will also have to display the area of side and the
overall volume of the shape to be considered complete.
-While the students are independently working the
teacher will circulate the classroom to provide guidance
and answer student questions.
