The book Thirteen Reasons Why is set in a city called Crestmont. The book could be in simply
about any small city in the US, however the author Jay Asher says that the story is based on
the actual California city the place he grew up. Hannah explained all the locations precisely in
the tapes, the tapes even come with a map. The book is set someplace between 2000 and
2010
Main character(s) :
The main characters are Hannah Baker and Clay Jensen. There are additionally many
different characters who all have their own tape. Hannah Baker is one of the main characters
in Thirteen Reasons Why. Hannah committed suicide after a chain of people betrayed her in
extraordinary ways. Hannah is a normal girl. Hannah has dark hair and brown eyes. She is
smart, understanding and very friendly. She desires to find love and in the book she is
exploring relationships naturally. Hannah likes candy, reading and writing poetry and she likes
warm chocolate, what she drank with Alex Standall and Jessica Davis in the nearby cafe after
school. We do not know how Hannah used to be earlier than the 13 events, because in the
book she explains the situations and we solely know that Hannah wanted to give her existence
a second chance and went to Mr. Porter, the school counselor, however he did not come after
her when she walked away.
Clay Jensen has brown hair and blue eyes. He was Hannah's best friend. They went to school
together and over the summer they worked together in the movie theater. The tapes changed
Clay, because he grew up around all of the people she talks about, but after listening to the
tapes he realizes he doesn't truly know them. Clay is a shy, but very friendly person. After
listening to the tapes, he regretted not being there for Hannah. If he was there for her more,
maybe she didn't committed suicide.


The plot & structure :
Hannah tells all her experiences why she wants to kill herself, the night time before she
commits suicide. The first tape is addressed to Justin Foley, her first kiss. The second tape is
addressed to Alex Standall, he made up a list at some point of freshman year. The third tape is
addressed to Jessica Davis, she thought Alex selected Hannah above her. The fourth tape is
addressed to Tyler Down, who stalked Hannah and took pics of her in her room.
Courtney Crimsen is the woman on the fifth tape, she spread a rumor about Hannah. The sixth
tape is addressed to Marcus Cooley, he he assaulted Hannah at a cafe where they had a date.
The seventh tape is addressed to Zach Dempsey, he eliminated notes from the compliments
bag in class. The eighth tape is addressed to Ryan Shaver, who posted a poem from Hannah
and betrayed her trust with this. The ninth tape is addressed to Clay Jensen, Hannah says that
he would not deserve to be on the list, she wished she had gotten to understand him earlier.
The tenth tape is addressed to Justin Foley again, he did not do something when Bryce was
raping Jessica at a party. The eleventh tape is for Jenny Kurtz, she gave Hannah a ride home
and she hit a stop sign, due to the fact of that a senior from Hannah’s school died in a
automobile accident. The twelfth tape is addressed to Bryce Walker, he raped Hannah in a hot
tub. The thirteenth tape is addressed to Mr. Porter, Hannah got here to him to discuss about
her feelings, however when she left he did not come after her. When Clay is listening to the
tapes he goes to each region that Hannah discusses.
