ANSWER - The Civil War took place between 1861-1865. The North did not support
slaves while the South did. The North was led the Former President Abraham Lincoln and
Ulysses Grant and the South by Robert E. Lee. This war had the most American casualties and
the North won although the couth could have won if King Cotton had been successful.
What strengths and weaknesses have you noted about the Union's involvement in the Civil War?

For example, the manufacturing is quick and cheap so it is easier to provide for people in a time
of war. They also had the support of president Lincoln and the federal government. A weakness
of the Union are the usual dangers of war and the Union had a larger area to defeat. Additonally,
the White House was very close to the Confederacy and was at danger of being taken over.

CORRECT ANSWER - The confederacy had slaves and continued to have them work as
they were. The slave owners had them do work so they were able to do more work. The slaves
however could and did turn on them, escape, or sabatoge the Confederacy. They also did not
work as fast or efficiently as the machines because they are people and can't make a mass

Americans started to gain power and were able to fight as soldiers and eventually got "equal
rights". Native Americans still did not have much rights and would face many terrors.

Women and African Americans had similarities and differences. African Americans are gaining

wealthy southeners had to change their ways which did not happen until many decades later. In
result, much of the South's farming land ended up ruined and the need for cotton started to
decease. In the North, there was rapid industrialization and development of factories which
allowed for mass production and wealth to settle. As a whole, the United States started focusing
on social issues and restructuring the institutions of power. Northern poloticians started to take
