Correct Update

Act 1- Scene 1 - Correct Answers-Play is set in Venice, begins in the middle of a
conversation between Iago and Roderigo. Roderigo has been paying Iago so he can
help him and make Desdemona fall in love with him.
He feels as though Iago has made no progress and is upset he didn't tell him that
Othello (who hasn't been named) has married her.
Roderigo doubts Iago, says that Iago told him he "hold him in thy hate".
Iago assures Roderigo he hates Othello, he gave a promotion to Cassio instead of him
and wants revenge. He is Othellos "ancient", in a position of trust, a standard bearer.
Iago= already using racial slurs "moor"

Iago and Roderigo try to ruin the relationship, go to Brabantios house, shout under his
window that his daughter has been stolen (patriarchal). It is dark, Brabantio has just
woken up, he is confused and doesn't know whos speaking, Roderigo announces
himself by Iago is disguising his voice.
Iago uses racial and animalistic imagery "old black ram...". Brabantio thinks his
daughter has been affected by dark magic. He sends armed group to find Othello.

Act 1- Scene 2 - Correct AnswersIago warns Othello that Brabantio is coming for him,
but Othello has faith in his love for Desdemona. He isn't running or afraid.
Cassio comes in with orders for Othello: he is to meet the Duke and senators of Venice
to talk about the Turkish fleet. He is experienced with war and highly respected.
Brabantio with his armed men then come to seize Othello. Iago puts on a show and
pretends he wants to fight Roderigo.
Othello doesnt want to fight Brabantio, he wants them to talk "command with years
Than with your weapons."
Othello persuades Brabantio to come with him to see the Duke, where Othello has been
summoned, and where Brabantio can present his case against Othello for the "stealing"
of Desdemona

Act 1- Scene 3 - Correct Answers-Initially a sense of chaos, it is unknown how big the
Turkish fleet is, an unknown threat coming for Cyprus.
-Othello+ Brabantio enter. Brabantio explains how his daughter has been stolen,
demands the thief is arrested the Duke promises to imprison the thief, hears its Othello
and takes it back, wants to hear his side.
Othello= defends himself, explains he's inexperienced with domestic life, only knows
war, but that he won Desdemona's love. Brabantio arguing Desdemona wouldn't marry
him, he manipulated/ influenced her.
Othello says to call for Desdemona so she can speak for herself. Says she fell in love
with his stories.
