This piece of work covers all of the criteria for P3, P4 in Public Services Unit 14: Responding to Emergency Service Incidents. I have achieved a Merit in this unit by Pearsons Edexcel in 2019. However, I did have a good attempt at the distinction work set and it might be useful to some degree. I achieved a D*D* in the first year of public services. I hope this helps!

The main roles of the police are; incident management, liaising with other emergency services,
making the area safe, taking statements, investigating the causes, forensic examination of scene and
prosecuting offenders if it is appropriate to do so.

B. Fire Service
The main roles of the fire service are; putting fires out/ extinguishing them, cutting people

2. Explain in detail the pneumonic “SADCHALETS”?

Survey means to look around to scene to see what has happened.

Assess the situation and see what event has taken place, whether it may be a road traffic collision or
a stabbing etc.

Disseminate means to process and break down what has happened in your head so you know what
action to take next.

Casualty is to determine who is dead or injured at the scene and to see who needs medical
attention.

Hazards is observing what could be a danger at the scene, for example; holes in the grounds,
leakages.

Access & Egress is how you are going to get the location and how you are going to divert traffic
around the scene.

Location is the place where the incident has occurred.

Emergency services + evacuation is determining whether it is worth evacuating the area/ building.

Type is the type of emergency or incident that has occurred.
