Question 1
1.1 Two types of theoretical frameworks
Constructivist Learning Theory
Social Learning Theory
1.2 Definitions
a) Theoretical framework: A theoretical framework is a structure that uses existing
theories to explain relationships between variables, guide research, and provide a lens
through which a study is interpreted.
b) Conceptual framework: A conceptual framework is a researcher’s own constructed
model that maps out how concepts, factors, and variables in a study relate, often
integrating multiple theories and empirical findings.
1.3 Difference between a theoretical framework and a conceptual framework
A theoretical framework is based on established, existing theories, providing a
foundation and perspective for the study.
A conceptual framework is developed by the researcher, combining concepts
from different theories and findings to explain the specific problem being
investigated.
