Research methodology M2 Daniel Trew
In this assignment I will be justifying the research methodologies I chose
for my piece of research project. My previous piece of research was on the
disorder ADHD.
Whenever I was planning on what method of research, I would use to
carry out my research on ADHD I came to the final choice of a
questionnaire. My hypothesis for this research was the public views and
knowledge of the disorder. As mentioned in my P4 I chose this disorder
due to my past experiences with it during my work experience. Whenever
carrying out this research I found that questionnaires were a good and
efficient way of getting information. It was very practical method of
research as the information was easy obtainable and it was quick as it
allowed me to get my answers quickly. I was able to hand out
questionnaires to a range of participants in my college and in my work,
Glenabbey manor. Having this wide range of places to hand out my
questionnaires meant that I had a wide sample group which would give
me more reliable results. Another reason why I believe questionnaires are
the best method for research is due to the fact they are a form of primary
research. This enabled me to acquire a better overall understanding of
individuals opinions on ADHD and their knowledge of the disorder. The
fact that I was able to have a wide range of diverse participants means
that this contributed to getting a wider scope of understanding
individuals’ opinions (University of Liverpool, 2017).
However, once I had started my research using the method of
questionnaires, I found that financial consideration was also something
that needed thinking about. I would need to plan and organise a
maximum amount I could spend on the research. I will also need to
organise how many copies of the questionnaire I would need to
