in organic Molecule
One thing you NEED to know in organic chemistry: HONC
Hydrogen – can bond only 1st
Oxygen – Can bond only to 2 molecules
Nitrogen – only to 3
Carbon – can bond to 4 atoms no more. 4 covalent bonds only.
Atomic orbital – Region of space where there is 95% probability of
finding an electron.
Ground state - The configuration that corresponds to the lowest
electronic energy for the atom or ion. (Definition in terms of electronic
configuration).
Hybridisation
Sp3 = S + P + P + P (Sp3 is a hybrid of 1s and 3p orbitals)
Triple is stronger than single bond because it’s harder to break
Triple bonds are shorter than sigma bonds
So, it’s easier to break pi bonds and harder to break sigma bonds.
Dash – pointing away from you. Wedge – pointing towards you
, So group 1 and 2 are the S block region, they have the sub shell S so they
can hold up to 2 electrons on the outer shell.
