, RCE2601 ASSIGNMENT 4 2025
SEMESTER 2 2025
DUE: 4 SEPTEMBER 2025
INTRODUCTION
This research assignment focuses on investigating the impact of technology-enhanced
teaching on learner engagement in South African secondary schools. The study is
designed to respond to a request from the Department of Basic Education, which seeks
practical and actionable recommendations to improve teaching practices using digital
tools. The research begins by carefully reviewing existing literature, making sure to
address current debates and developments in education technology and learner
engagement. It then explores appropriate research paradigms and approaches,
considering both qualitative and quantitative methods to capture a comprehensive
understanding of the issue. It also considers how action research can be used to identify
and solve challenges as they arise during the investigation, allowing for real-time
improvements in teaching strategies. Ethical considerations are central to the study,
ensuring the protection of participants' rights and the trustworthiness of data collected.
The ultimate goal is to produce reliable and socially relevant findings that can support
educators and policymakers in enhancing education through technology. This project
demonstrates a thoughtful blend of theory, methodology, and ethics to contribute
meaningfully to educational research and practice in South Africa.
