(engraftment which takes 2-4 wks)
- new bone marrow starts to be functional and make blood cells (until the
cells are made, there is still high risk for bleeding and infection)

* patients should receive high doses of chemo to oblate their own bone
marrow before the transplant to prevent rejection of new stem cells

- this is a vesicant: use big veins or CVC
- watch NADER: lowest count of blood cells (hits 7-14 days post infusion)

- spills handles by trained staff and spill kit
- YELLOW Disposal
