In the foundation phase, where learners are still developing basic language and thinking skills, collaborative learning helps scaffold their understanding. Through group discussions, pair work, and shared reading, learners develop vocabulary, sentence structure, and comprehension. It also supports emotional development as learners feel a sense of belonging and safety, which are essential for effective learning. Furthermore, collaborative learning promotes active participation and engagement. Children are more likely to stay focused and involved when working with peers, as it creates a dynamic, supportive environment.
