Activity 1
Task planning and system design changes

You are advised to spend no longer than 1.5 hours on this activity.

At the start of the task, create a short project time plan/Gantt chart and use it to
monitor your progress throughout the rest of the task and make any adjustments
as required.

During the other activities (2 to 5), you should also record in the Activity 1 section of
your Electronic Task Booklet:

• what you did in the session
• details of any issues encountered in this session and solutions discovered
• action points for the next session.

, Instruction – during each session, please complete the following logbook, duplicating
the table as required for each session (cut and paste the table as required).

Remember to update the project time plan/Gantt chart at the start of each session.

Date: 08/05/2025 (session 1)

What I have done this session:

I was able to plan my time effectively in this session with no adjustments made to the
initial time plan.

During this session, I began planning the time I needed for each activity for Activity 1.
Following this, I moved onto activity 2 where I interpreted the client brief and created
a technical specification by splitting the requirements into 5 chronological steps. I was
then able to prepare a detailed test plan. During the remaining hour of my session, I
began creating a system design which included a components list, hardware plan and a
flowchart which describes the function of the system.

Issues encountered this session and solutions with justification:
Activity 1 and 2 provided minimal issues as they were straightforward, however I
experienced slight issues with composing the test plan as I was using most of the time
allocated to task 2 thinking of the different tests that I can include in the test plan.
Another issue I encountered was during task 3 where I was composing a component list
and a circuit design. I was struggling of thinking of components that can be used in my
design that fulfils the specification. However, while browsing the peripherals list in
Proteus (Circuit Construction Software) I was able to locate relevant components which
were the Grove Relay and Grove Temperature Sensor. These where key components as
the temperature sensor can detect temperature to trigger the function of the motor
that blows the pressuried air. The Grove Relay allowed for the motor to be powered by
turning the relay on and off.

Action points for the next session:
I will start by continuing the progress I’ve made on activity 3. On completion I will
return to my logbook and note the progress that I’ve made. After an hour into the
session, I will begin task 4, aiming to complete the programming in session 2. allowing
me to focus on the construction of hardware during my 3 rd session.

(Total for Activity 1 = 10 marks)
