i. In the text we have two characters;
a) Joseph of Arimathea -He was a member of governing council known as the Sanhedrin and didn’t
always agree with the council.
-He approached Pirate to release the body of Christ for burial, this was a bold move considering
he was a member of the governing council.
-He was a secret follower of Jesus Christ.
b) The second character was Nicodemus ,he too was bold in his actions.
We remember him as the person who visited Jesus at night, he too was a follower of Jesus Christ.
-The materials that he had brought were meant for burial of kings.
-It was God’s plan to have his body embalmed as a king.
-God also provided a tomb that has not been used.
◼ These two characters honored God by providing their resources in honor of Jesus.
◼ We are reminded by the gospel of John that we should take bold steps of faith to show our
relationship with God.
