NOTES OF CHEMISTRY
CLASS _ X
CHAPTER no:01
Equilibrium: The state in which
forward reaction rate and reverse
reaction rate become equal.
OR
The situation in which the rate of
forward reaction becomes equal
to rate reverse reaction.
Law of Mass action
The rate at which a substance
reacts is directly proportional to
its active mass and rate of
reaction is directly proportional to
the product of active mass of
reactions.
, IMPORTANCE OF
EQUILIBRIUM CONSTANT
1) Direction of equilibrium
Kc = Equilibrium constant
Qc= ration of real concentration
a) Kc=Qc
The reaction is in equilibrium &
system is stable (Balanced)
b) Qc<Kc
The reaction will be forward.
c) Qc>Kc
The reaction will be reversed.
EXTENT OF REACTION
1. Kc is very low
- Reaction will not stop
- Reverse or backward reaction
2. Kc is high
- It will be forward
