Conversion Coatings - ANSWERS-Follows the metal conditioners and
lays down a zinc phosphate layer that maximizes primer adhesion as
well as preventing rust "creep" under the painted surface. Not to be used
in enclosed sections.
Epoxy Primers - ANSWERS-Provides a level of corrosion protection
closest to that of the original E-Coat primer. Must be applied soon after
the cleaning, etching and conversion steps.
Induction Period - ANSWERS-Some epoxy primers need to sit for a
time after mixing.
Self Etching - ANSWERS-Eliminates the need for conditioners and
conversion coatings. Must be top coated with a paint finish or anti
corrosion compound.
Weld-Thru Primers - ANSWERS-Restores the zinc protection that is
burned away welding. Bonds tightly to bare metal and flows back into

the weld site as it cools. Primers and seam sealers do not adhere to it so
it must be removed.
Seam Sealers - ANSWERS-Need to be replaced in any location that the
manufacture applied them to. Same as what was used, and should be
applied after the epoxy or self etching primers.
Wax and Petroleum Based Anti-Corrosion Compounds - ANSWERS-
Applied to all enclosed sections and underbody surfaces.
Sacrificial Corrosion - ANSWERS-Seal sacrifices itself against the
elements.
Galvanic Corrosion - ANSWERS-When 2 metals react to each other.
Replace any special washers, films, gaskets to separate the two metals.
Structural Parts - ANSWERS-Parts of the unibody that manage collision
energy. They provide support for mechanical components and provide
attachment points. (Hoods, Doors, Deck Lids, Etc.) All are structural to
a degree.

A-Pillar - ANSWERS-The pillar or the vertical bar which you see
holding the windshield from sides, the right side A- pillar houses the
Antenna in most of the cars
B-Pillar - ANSWERS-The pillar on both sides just behind the driver's
seat.The pillar which is present in between the rear & the front door.
C-Pillar - ANSWERS-This is where the rear window ends but on the
body & not on the door.
Radiator Core Support - ANSWERS-A structural part to a unibody.
Strut Tower/Apron - ANSWERS-Inner fender areas under the hood.
Front Rail - ANSWERS-Connected to the radiator support. Part of the
front frame.
