B1

Questions one, two, and three are commonly used terms in epidemiology and when

researching an outbreak of a communicable disease. These terms are commonly mistaken for

one another if their definitions need to be better understood. They are precise in categorizing a

disease outbreak. All three terms in questions one through three directly relate to course

objective one; at the completion of this course, the student will be able to differentiate between

endemic vs. epidemic vs. pandemic.

Questions four and ten are based on the cast study review of a Yersinia Pestis outbreak.

Identifying accurate team members for an outbreak investigation is critical to conducting

research. The questions directly relate to student learning objective two, which states that with

the completion of this module, the student will be able to develop infection control/prevention

measures consistent with a Yersinia Pestis outbreak.

Question five asks the student to again use terminology specific to epidemiology research

and the communicable disease outbreak research process. The question directly relates to student

learning objective one, which states that with the completion of this module, the student will be

able to identify disease containment team members in a Yersinia Pestis outbreak.

Questions six, seven, eight, and nine discuss the proper formation of an outbreak team

and the appropriate members. These questions relate not only to the second-course objective of

the completion of this course; the student will be able to organize a complete outbreak team, but

also to student learning objective one, which states the student will be able to identify disease

containment team members in a Yersinia Pestis outbreak.
