Tara Brach, Jon Kabat-Zinn, and Jack Kornfield all revealed different layers of
emotions, love, compassion, and kindness towards my mind, soul, and body.
When I practiced Tara Brach’s meditation it was the first one out of the week,
and I’m glad I did start with hers because I was able to start the week off
with the perspective of being more gentle and tender with difficult emotions
rather than reactively wanted to go the route of avoidance. Not only did this
meditation provide a different perspective but a sense of grounding.
For Jack Kornfield’s guided meditation, provided a healing space due to the
engagement in self-kindness and embodying love towards myself. With Jack
setting the perspective that a loving kindness towards ourselves shouldn’t be
viewed as selfish was reassuring. Lastly, when speaking on Jon Kabat-Zinn’s
meditation, with it starting on our self love and the love growing out towards
others and the plant and the overall reminder of our interconnectedness
allowed me to feel a sense of love beaming off of me and through me .
All of the guided meditations provided some benefit of self love and
compassion towards myself just through a different lens on how to perceive
it. I also enjoyed that this meditation practice was different from the usual
breath-based practices and getting to experience a different form of
meditation. The one that resonated the most with me the most was Jack
Kornfield’s. His meditation combined a balance of guided imagery, healing
energy, emotional depth, and affirmation that allowed me to feel energized
and restored after his meditation which I picked to do for the rest of the
week.
