Support Worker (Children’s Residential) Job Description
Job Title: Residential Support worker
Home: Working across Woodford homes
Responsible to: The Registered Manager / Deputy Manager/Senior Support Worker
Brief description of job role:
The main purpose of this role is to support the effective care of the Children in the home by carrying
out duties assigned by the Leadership Team. The key responsibility will be to assist in the delivery of
an outstanding therapeutically informed service for our Children. The role may be required to
support more than one service depending on business needs.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
A motivation to work therapeutically with Children.
Over 21 years old
To be available for sleep-in duties if required.
IT Literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to form positive relationships with children.
Ability to participate in a range of activities with enthusiasm in the context of the role.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Preferred Requirements:
1 – 2 years’ experience working in Residential Childcare
Able to drive with a clear Driving Licence.
Experience working in a Therapeutic provision.
Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce/Children’s Residential Diploma (achieved or
currently undertaking)

Job Description
Safeguarding
To ensure that you are supported to follow the company’s safeguarding procedures.
To report immediately to the Registered Manager any issues regarding Child Protection matters.
Keep your own knowledge and skills up to date.
To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and be aware of relevant policies and
procedures.
Quality and Compliance
To be personally responsible for the standard and quality of your practice.
To ensure you follow the relevant Plans for each child and that they are always adhered to.
To ensure all policies and procedures are always adhered to.
To ensure that you have completed all relevant documents on shift this includes incident forms,
accident forms, safeguarding concerns, restraint forms as applicable and that such information
is passed to the Registered Manager within the agreed timescale.
To report any Health and Safety issues particularly related to the upkeep of the building and its
surroundings.
To update children’s relevant plans and personal files and liaise with children’s social workers
and Woodford’s staff to ensure information is shared and recorded appropriately.
Leadership and Management
To work in accordance with Woodford Children’s Service & Therapeutic Community Values.
To lead a shift/daily care plans as and when necessary ensuring that children are kept safe and
engaged throughout the day.
To ensure that you read all relevant communication and records.
To ensure you comply with the duty rotas.
Adhere to and promote the Company’s Equalities, Inclusion and Diversity Policy.
To undertake all mandatory training and any other training as deemed appropriate by the
organisation to meet the needs of the children within agreed timeframes.
