QUESTION 1: Visual Arts Activity Design (30 marks)
1.1 Visual Arts Activity Description
My Dream House from Discards
Duration: 30 minutes
In this activity, Grade 5 learners will design and create a miniature model of their dream
house using only recycled cardboard e.g., cereal boxes, paper, a pencil, and one
coloured medium e.g., crayon. The teacher begins the lesson by briefly introducing the
theme and showing examples or pictures of houses from different communities.
Learners are then asked to sketch a basic outline of their dream house using pencil on
a piece of recycled cardboard or paper (5 minutes).
Next, they cut and fold recycled cardboard to shape features such as walls, roofs,
doors, and windows. These parts will be glued or slotted together to form a simple 3D
house structure (15 minutes). Learners then add detail by drawing patterns or textures
with pencil and decorating one key area (such as the roof or door) using their single
coloured medium (5 minutes). The lesson ends with a 5-minute group reflection where
