A. Analyze information about the target audience of learners from the case study you chose in
Task 1 to do the following:

1. Briefly describe the instructional setting and target learners from the case study you
chose in Task 1 to provide context for your work in this task.
The instructional setting from the K-12 case study is Golden Maple Middle School within the
Ridgeland Regional School District (RRSD). Golden Maple Middle School comprises of grades
6-8, which was established 18 years ago. Students score quite well when compared to their
counterparts throughout the state on their standardized tests. The target learners from this case
study are a group of 6th graders, ranging from 17-20 students per learner group. Upon the
construction of an empathy map, the target learners prefer the use of tactile learning activities
and strategies. They excel in their use of technology and prefer to use it for review games,
quizzes, and healthy competition amongst their peers. Lastly, students stated they enjoyed
options when it came to their learning, such as a list of choices of activities and assignments to
complete rather then repitious classwork.


2. Identify an instructional problem related to the learners from the case study that can be
solved through instruction or training.
An instruction problem that should be noted from the case study is that Golden Maple Middle
Schools state standardized test scores show proficiency in nearly 71% or more of students in
mathematics, science, and social studies. However, students show below grade level proficiency
of 41% in their 6th grade learners in English Language Arts, and less than 60% of proficient
learners, making it stand out as an area that needs growth (Western Governors University, 2024,
p. 3).
