deliberately misrepresented for political reasons. Analyse this statement in the
light of the struggle for equality during apartheid. (25)

People's Education:** During apartheid, this referred to an alternative,
community-driven approach to education designed to counteract the discriminatory
and oppressive nature of the apartheid system. It aimed to empower Black South
Africans and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to challenge the
system.

People's Power:** This refers to the idea of political and social control residing in
the hands of the people, rather than a minority ruling elite. In the context of
apartheid, it meant Black South Africans gaining the power to determine their own
destiny, including their education.
