1. Mitosis: - copies of genetic material are made

2. Meiosis: - copies of genetic material are made
- cell them divides twice to form 4 gametes

3. Epidermal tissue: Covers the plant
4. Palisade mesophyll: Carries out photosynthesis
5. Spongy mesophyll: Has air spaces to facilitate diffusion of gas
6. Xylem: Transports water around the plant

8. Sexual reproduction in plants: - anther produces male gametes in pollen grains
- pollen grains attach to stigma on the top of the carpel, where female gametes are
located, the ovules
- pollen tube grows through carpels style into ovule
- nuclei from pollen grain migrate into ovule to fertilise the egg cell
- zygote develops into embryo
- ovary then grows into a fruit which surrounds the seed
9. Aerobic respiration: Glucose + oxygen - carbon dioxide + water

- energy released can be used to build larger molecules
- to enable muscles to contract
- maintain a steady body temperature
10. Anaerobic respiration: Glucose - lactic acid + energy
11. During exercise...: - heart rate increases, increasing blood flow to muscles so
that muscles get more oxygen
- rate and depth of breathing increases
- glycogen stored in muscles is converted into glucose
- this increases supply of oxygen to muscles and increases rate of removal of carbon
dioxide
12. Oxygen debt: Oxides lactic acid to carbon dioxide and water
13. Coronary heart disease: Layers of fatty material build up in inside coronary

resulting in lack of oxygen for the heart.
14. Flow of blood through heart..,,: - blood enters atria
- atria contracts and forces blood into the ventricles
- ventricles contract and force blood out of the heart
15. Heart valves.....: Ensure blood flows in correct direction, and prevents the back
flow of blood
