Introduction
A1a. Professional Mission Statement
As a Registered Nurse, I aim to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that promotes the well-
being and dignity of every patient I serve. My goals are to advance my clinical experience and
leadership at my hospital. I want to continue to lead and mentor other nurses. I want to maintain a
positive outlook by broadening my education, skills, and experiences while strengthening my
weaknesses. I lack the confidence to ask for help and support self-care, and my biggest hurdle is
healthcare finances. I am committed to focusing my time and energy on working in a collaborative
healthcare environment, advocating for patients, and having the drive to improve healthcare. I will
attend workshops and seminars and continue to work on researching the best evidence-based practice
for my patients and families.
A1b. Mission Statement Reflection
Accomplishing my professional mission statement involves staying up to date with best practices and
current standards of care. It will help me drive my academic and professional aspirations in acquiring
relevant knowledge, skills, and experiences to deliver value-based nursing. My mission statement will
ensure that I gain knowledge in my weaker areas and stop being afraid to ask for help. I want to be the
best leader and work on research more. Overall, my mission statement will act as the driving force to
push me to accomplish my academic objectives and future career goals.
A2a. Learner & Healthcare Professional
The artifacts in my portfolio show a diversity of my differences as a healthcare professional. They are
certificates, evidenced-based practice papers, and research. The culturally competent nursing care
certificate in D218 reminded me that everyone is different. I did not become a nurse to judge anyone
for anything. There will always be racism, hate, and ignorance in this world. Healthcare has no place for
any of this. I learned to incorporate that differences are good, and you can learn so much from different
people while providing safe, patient-centered healthcare.
In D 219 Scholarship in Nursing, I used my research skills by researching continuous improvement and
showcasing my ability to integrate and apply evidence-based practices in patient care. It demonstrates
applying theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, highlighting my clinical reasoning and problem-
solving growth.
A2b. Professional Strengths
One of my professional strengths come from D218. I know that I treat everyone as an individual and
how to lead my team as a leader best. In D218 Ethically Competent Task 2, I know that as a leader, you
should always try to ensure equity and inclusivity in healthcare. For myself, not one of us is the same.
We are all part of the healthcare team. We all put our pants on the same and deserve to be treated as
equals. I speak to everyone in the hospital by their first name; if I have not learned your name, I
automatically look for your name badge and include it when I say good morning or good afternoon.
When making the schedule, if I move one person's day, I move them all at least one day to make it fair.
After the schedule comes out, then they can change with each other to suit their needs better. My goal
is equality. I want to be treated as fairly as I am treating you. Regarding my patients, I agree to take
care of you. Whether you are the wealthiest person or the one who is dying from AIDS, it does not
matter.
