Emotional Intelligence and Cultural Intelligence

Emotional intelligence (EI) is necessary for professionals to excel in dealing with people

within and outside their companies. Though emotional intelligence is not traditionally seen as a

hard skill, it supports better leadership, improved communication, and personal self-control and

can be improved. According to my scores on the GEIT, I have strong social awareness and

relationship management skills, although I could still improve on self-awareness and self-

management. Using Daniel Goleman's ideas and the support of academic studies, this paper

plans to discuss techniques that will help enhance my emotions and how I behave with others.

These developments are necessary for improving my skillset and adding value to the

organization. Improving emotional intelligence involves working on self-awareness, self-

management, and better ways to talk with others to become more effective with people.
