Chief Complaint:
“I’ve had bumps on my face for the past few months.”
Clinical Presentation:
• Multiple open and closed comedones (blackheads and
whiteheads)
• Inflammatory papules and a few pustules over the
forehead and cheeks
• No cysts, nodules, or scarring
• No systemic symptoms
• Clean-shaven, no use of topical products, no history of
picking at skin
History Highlights:
• Onset 4 months ago; progressively worsening
• No prior treatment
• Family history: mother had acne during adolescence
• Active in sports (sweats often), uses a greasy lotion
Psychosocial Impact:
• Mild anxiety about appearance
• Decreased self-esteem around peers
