(1) Elements Butana must incorporate into his website to meet the consumer
protection requirements of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act
25 of 2002 (ECTA):

In terms of Sections 43 and 44 of the ECTA, Butana must include the following on his e-
commerce website:
1. Full name and legal status of the business.
2. Physical address and contact details, including an email address.
3. Membership of any self-regulatory or accreditation bodies, if applicable.
4. Description of the main characteristics of the goods or services offered.
5. The full price of the goods/services, including taxes and any delivery costs.
6. Payment methods accepted.
7. Terms and conditions of the sale.
8. Return, exchange, and refund policy.
9. Security procedures and privacy policy related to payment and customer
data.
10. Time within which goods will be dispatched or services rendered.
11. Cooling-off period and the right to cancel the transaction (Section 44 gives
consumers 7 days to cancel without reason after receiving goods/services, with
refund).
12. Record of the transaction (consumer must be able to access and store a
record).
13. Procedure for lodging complaints and how they will be handled.
14. Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, if any.
15. Digital signature acceptance and legal validity, as per Sections 13 and 20.
