Literature is one of the most unique art forms considering that it uses key elements that
set it apart from the rest. It is key to note that language is one of the main elements of literature
and this introduces multiple complexities when it comes to defining and understanding it as an
art form. Despite the many definitions that exist regarding literature, it is key to note it is a result
of a psychological and physical effort by an author who has different objectives behind creating
this form of art. To gain further insight into the aspects that characterize literature as an art form,
this analysis explores the challenges and opportunities associated with it, factors that set it apart
from other art forms, and the impact the differences and similarities have on adapting it to other
art forms like film.
To fully grasp literature as an art form, it is key to explore the various elements that
characterize it. The basic elements that form the foundation for the definition are the language,
structure, content, and style. Language can be considered the focal point of the definition and this
is what introduces the concept of aesthetics considering that it forms a strong connection with
