Mechanical Modalities - ANS Involve force application to tissues, such as compression or
traction.
Electromagnetic Modalities - ANS Use electromagnetic energy, including electrical
stimulation, ultrasound, and laser therapy.
Signs of Inflammation - ANS Redness, heat, swelling, pain, and loss of function.
Signs of Infection - ANS Fever, increased pain, redness, warmth, pus discharge, and swelling.
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) - ANS Leg swelling, pain or cramping (often in the calf), redness
or discoloration, and a feeling of warmth in the affected leg.
Heat Therapy Indications - ANS Chronic pain, muscle spasm, joint stiffness.
Heat Therapy Contraindications - ANS Acute inflammation, bleeding disorders, impaired
sensation.
