Culture Event
The culture event that would take place at Woodglen elementary would happen in a
Friday night after school from 4-7 pm. This event would take place in the gym were activities
and stations would be set out for students and families can learn about different cultures. This
event would be held together with staff but hosted by different families at the tables. Families
would be invited/volunteer to share about the culture to the school. Each family that volunteers
would get a table where they can bring in food, pictures, or items to share with the school
community at the event.
Culture Represented in the Community
The Woodglen Elementary community is represented by many cultures. These cultures
are 53.8% Hispanic/ Latino, 31.6% White, 8.4% Asian or Asian/Pacific Islander,5.0% Two or
more races, 1.0% Black or African American, and 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native (USN
News, 2025). Thus, the school community language is promptly English and Spanish. Many
, new cultures are coming the school with an increase of refugee families from Afghanistan. This
is important to know because there are many different religions within the school, and it is
important to respect them all with the events put on at the school.
Cultural Organizations
There are many culture organizations that are available to the school community during
the culture event. These organizations are welcomed to come a help represent the different
culture in the community and hand out resources to families to learn about the many different
cultures that make up Woodglen. The Latino Community Foundation of Colorado is a great
organization that pushes for cultural justice, family and community for authentic narrative about
