Question 2
Question text
Researcher K has data on two variables:
(i) weight status; and
(ii) (ii) the duration of moderate to vigorous physical activity per day.
• For ease of presentation, each variable can only assume two values, obese and normal weight
for weight status, activity less than one hour or more than one hour for physical activity.
• Four possible combinations can be assumed for these two variables and each respondent can
be allocated to only one of them.
(i) The table indicates that most obese children (74%) have been physically active and, by
contrast, a majority of those who have been physically active fell into the normal weight
category (64%).
(ii) Tables that present percentages also should include the total frequencies in the bottom
cells (called column marginals) as this tells the reader about the total size of the sample.
