Capítulo 1: Luisa y José
Los Personajes: Luisa (10) su familia es campesinos, su casa es pequeña y vive/trabaja en el
campo de caña de azúcar; José (17) vive una vida rica, su padre es rico y es dueño de una fábrica
de tobaco
Capítulo 2: Al hospital
La familia de Luisa va al hospital porque Lolita, su hermana de 3 años, está muy enferma.
Conocen a Rolando y les ayuda encontrar el hospital. El hospital no puede ayudarles porque no
acepta pacientes nuevos y ellos son "campesinos sucios". Lolita murió; José dio una
presentación sobre su papá en una de sus clases y se siente muy orgulloso de él y su trabajo.
Pasa tiempo con un amigo en su casa y come la cena con su familia.
Capítulo 3: El principio de una revolución
Luisa's family is all sad from the death of Lolita; Rolando is in jail for hitting the guard; Carlos
worked for his boss for 3 days without rest because his family was in the city at the hospital;
Rolando learned about a new government (democracy); José's uncle, Antony, wanted to get rid
of Batista in power and wanted Martín and José to participate.
Capítulo 4: A la guerra
Manuel (el padre de Luisa y Carlos), Carlos, and Rolando were walking with the rebels for days -
even though they were different social classes, they were all fighting for the same purpose.
They captured all the people that were representing and fighting for Batista.
Capítulo 5: Al combate
Luisa and her mom had no connections or communication with their family fighting with the
Rebels. José's dad had a very important tobacco company- The July 26th Movement - Antony
was helping the column (battalion) because they needed materials. Antony saved Carlos' life
from a bomb. The rebel groups won the fight and Batista fled Cuba on January 1, 1959.
Capítulo 6: ¿Cuba libre?
Luisa and her mom were scared and sad about everything and everyone not coming back yet.
Paula, a teacher from the city, came to the campo to teach everyone how to read and write.
Luisa was a bright student and learned very quickly. Luisa and her mom went to the city so Luisa
could go to school there.
