Chapter 1 - Identity

Social identity: beïnvloedt gedrag, mensen vormen groepen op basis van
willekeurige kenmerken (zoals pet kleur) en bevoordelen hun eigen groep.
Error management: fouten gebeuren onbedoeld, schendingen zijn opzettelijk.
Managers moeten fouten herkennen en onderscheid maken tussen fouten en
overtredingen.

Organizational behavior (OB): “A field of study that investigates the impact
that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations,
for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an
organization’s effectiveness.”
OB bestudeert de invloed van individuen, groepen en structuren op
organisatiegedrag om effectiviteit te verbeteren.
And where an organization is: ‘A consciously coordinated social unit, composed
of two or more people, that functions on a relatively continuous basis to achieve
a common set goals or set of goals.’ Organisaties zijn sociale eenheden die
doelen nastreven met een gestructureerde samenwerking.

Worker: an individual who contributes to the accomplishment of
work goals. Why not employee? > ‘The gig economy’
De gig-economie verandert werk: minder stabiliteit, meer flexibiliteit en
onzekerheid. Manager: an individual who achieves goals through other people
(formal and informal)
