A. The simulation gave me a chance to put into practice the tools and techniques I’ve learned
in my courses so far, all in a classroom setting with students who each had their own
personalities and behaviors. I started by trying to build rapport with the students, aiming to
create an environment where they could feel comfortable engaging not only with me but also
with each other during group discussions. Some students were more outgoing, while others
were quieter. Most were respectful, but there was one student who became confrontational
when they disagreed with an opinion or answer. When I saw tension building between this
outspoken student and a quieter one, I tried to step in, but the outspoken student reacted with
some frustration, feeling like I was targeting them. I took a step back to explain my reasoning,
validating their concerns and reminding everyone that differing opinions are valuable. I
emphasized the importance of being respectful, no matter whether we agree or disagree, and
this helped steer the conversation back on track. From there, all the students shared their
thoughts during the activity, and everyone listened and responded respectfully. Throughout
the simulation, I focused on setting clear expectations, creating a safe and inclusive space,
using positive reinforcement to encourage participation, and teaching students how to interact
with each other respectfully are all strategies that really helped keep things positive and
manage any conflicts that came up.

B. I think the strategies I used in the simulation helped the students feel more relaxed and
engaged in the discussion, but I realize I could have done more at the start to build rapport and
create a safer space for them to feel comfortable speaking up. I also would’ve reinforced our
