Here at Southern Ocean, we use Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators – also known as
the NDNQI, in our healthcare system. According to Madaris & Potter (2023), The degree to
which your company adheres to established nursing standards has an effect on the experiences of
patients and staff. The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), originally
introduced by the American Nurses Association (ANA) in 1998, is currently a Press Ganey
, solution. It is the only in-depth platform of its kind that gathers and analyzes nursing data,
allowing nursing units to evaluate its impact on patient outcomes and clinical quality. It is also
the oldest and largest of its kind.
More than 2,000 hospitals use the NDNQI, the largest database for unit-level
performance. Using the NDNQI, which comprises 95% of Magnet-recognized institutions,
assess how they stack up against comparable hospitals at the state, regional, and national levels.
The only national database that provides quarterly and annual reporting on structure, process,
and quality indicators helpful for evaluating practice at the nursing unit level is this one, which is
