SECTION A: PERFORMING ARTS
Question 1
1.1 List two ways in which music is incorporated into our daily lives. Support with
relevant activities.
1. Music in social celebrations and events
Music is often used during birthday parties, weddings, and religious gatherings e.g.
praise and worship. These events include singing, dancing, or playing instruments,
allowing people to express joy and participate in group activities.
2. Music for emotional soothing and bonding
Music is used to soothe babies by rocking them gently and singing lullabies. This helps
calm both the baby and the caregiver, forming emotional bonds and creating a peaceful
atmosphere.
1.2 Explain how music influences the mood of young children.
Music Regulates Emotions and Relieves Tension
Music can calm or energize children, depending on its tempo and rhythm. For example,
slow, soothing lullabies or humming, help calm infants and reduce anxiety, creating a
relaxed mood. And also, upbeat, rhythmic music can energize children and uplift their
mood during play or creative activities.
