1. Introduce yourself to your lecturers and fellow students, by stating your name
and telling us where you are from.
My name is Thomas Mboya, and I am from Kenya, a country well known for its cultural
diversity and deep respect for education as a vehicle for empowerment. I come from a
humble background, raised in a community where access to quality education was
limited, but where the value of learning was held in high regard. I am currently pursuing
a degree in education through the University of South Africa (UNISA), which has
provided me with the flexibility to balance my academic journey with other
commitments, including part-time work and community service.
I have always been driven by a strong sense of purpose and a desire to make a
difference, particularly in the lives of young people. My experiences in both urban and
rural school environments have shown me the transformative power of education, not
just as a means to gain knowledge, but as a platform for personal development and
societal change. I look forward to engaging with fellow students and lecturers
throughout this module, sharing ideas, learning from diverse perspectives, and growing
together as future educators.
