iii. Nasal septum – including cartilage, ethmoid and vomer bones
iv. Inferior conchae and meatus
v. Middle conchae and meatus
vi. Superior conchae and meatus
vii. Internal nares (posterior nasal aperture)
2. Paranasal sinuses:
i. Frontal
ii. Sphenoid
iii. Ethmoid
iv. Maxillary
v. Mastoid
3. Pharynx (throat)
i. Nasopharynx
a. Opening of pharyngotympanic (auditory or Eustachian) tube
b. Pharyngeal tonsil (adenoids)
ii. Oropharynx
a. Palatine tonsils
b. Lingual tonsil
iii. Laryngopharynx
4. Oral cavity
i. Hard palate – including maxillary and palatine bones
ii. Soft palate
a. Uvula
5. Hyoid bone
6. Larynx
i. Thyroid cartilage
ii. Cricoid cartilage
iii. Arytenoid cartilages
iv. Corniculate cartilages (attached to arytenoid cartilage)
v. Vestibular folds containing vestibular ligaments (false vocal cords)
vi. Vocal folds containing vocal ligaments (true vocal cords)
vii. Epiglottis (note it is elastic cartilage)
viii. Glottis (opening between vocal folds)
