Wat is statistiek?
 Statistiek: (verzamelen), classificeren, samenvatten, organiseren, analyseren en interpreteren
van numerieke gegevens
 Statistiek is een hulpmiddel om een onderzoekvraag te beantwoorden
 Wetenschappelijk bewijzen: aantonen op basis van empirische gegevens met een empirisch
waargenomen resultaat

Beschrijvende vs. toetsende statistiek
Je trekt in praktijk vaak steekproef (n) uit grote populatie (N) om onderzoek te gaan doen (N  n).
Onderzoek naar populatie is toetsend, onderzoek naar steekproef is beschrijvend.
