1) Aspiration: is breathing in a foreign object such as foods or liquids into the trachea and lungs and
happens when protective reflexes are reduced or jeopardized. An infection that develops after an entry
of food, liquid, or vomit into the lungs can result in aspiration pneumonia.

2) Callus: made of dead skin. Thick, hardened layers of skin caused by friction and pressure.
3) Cerumen: earwax.

5) Dental caries: Tooth decay, also known as dental caries or cavities, is a breakdown of teeth due to
acids made by bacteria.

6) Fissures: The chewing surface of a molar contains natural pits and grooves (fissures) where dental
decay occurs most often

7) Gingiva: The gingiva (gum) is the portion of oral mucosa covering the alveolar bone ridge surrounding
the tooth.

8) Gingivitis: means inflammation of the gum.

9) Hygiene: conditions or practices conducive to maintaining health and preventing disease, especially
through cleanliness.

10) Pediculosis: infestation with lice.

11) Peri care or perineal care: It means washing the genitals and anal area. Prevents skin breakdown of
perineal area, itching, burning, odor, and infections.

12) Periodontal disease: is an infection of the tissues that hold your teeth in place.

13) Plantar warts – skin: are small growths that usually appear on the heels or other weight-bearing
areas of your feet. This pressure may also cause plantar warts to grow inward beneath a hard, thick layer
of skin (callus). Plantar warts are caused by HPV.

14) Plaque: A sticky film that coats teeth and contains bacteria.
