Grammaire 1 - Le choix entre imparfait et passé composé
Imparfait → action envisagée dans sa durée/stabilité → was/were doing or used to do
- When to use?
- Habitudes dans le passé → Describing habits or repeated actions
- Descriptions → Setting the scene or background
- Actions simultanées dans le passé → Describing ongoing actions or
states in the past
- How to form it?
- Take the nous form of the verb in the present tense.
- Drop the -ons and add these endings:
- -ais, -ais, -ait, ions, iez, aient

Conjonction → quand d’un coup, quand tout à coup, quand soudain, lorsque soudain,
lorsque, soudainement/brusquement

Futur proche → évènement provoquant une rupture temporelle et/ou contextuelle →

- When to use?
- Immediate future actions.
- Express something that is planned or certain.
- How to form it?
- Use the present tense of aller (to go).
- Add the infinitive of the verb that describes that action.

- Use the present tense of the auxiliary verb avoir or être
- Add the past participle of the main verb
- Most verbs use avoir, but verbs of movement or reflexive verbs use être.

For être and avoir → auxiliaire être ou avoir + participe passé
Accords:
- With être → agreement 100% of the time with the subject → la pomme est
mangée par marc.
- WIth avoir if the cod is after the verb → agreement 0% of the time with the
object → anna a mangé une pomme.
- With avoir if the cod is before the verb → agreement 100% of the time with
the object → voici la pomme que Marc a mangée.



Grammaire 3 - Les expression d’intention
Les expressions d’intention
- Avoir envie de + infinitif = désirer + infinitif → To want to + infinitive = to
desire + infinitive
- Avoir l'intention de + infinitif = envisager de + infinitif → Have the intention
to + infinitive = envisage to + infinitive
- Penser à + infinitif → To think about + infinitive
- Être prêt à + infinitif → Be ready to + infinitive
- Vouloir + infinitif → To want + infinitive
- Décider de + infinitif → Decide to + infinitive
