Hi Prof.
Lee and everyone!
OMG it’s week 6! Upon completing the adapts regarding assessment and care. In this edpat, it is
insightful to learn as a nurse that our role is vital in all aspects and in the patient's nutritional care
plan. When that nurse is doing a nutritional assessment, we must do an “anthropometric data;
this involves taking patient weight, height BMI and also, head circumference, food, and nutrition
history, physical examination, laboratory tests, including LFTs, lipids, renal profile, protein,
anemia, and HgbA1C, and client history” (Charney, 2016).
I also learned that eating certain food can interact with one’s medication. “Food, herbs, and
supplements may interfere with a drug’s absorption, metabolism, or excretion. This may increase
the drug’s toxicity, produce a new effect, or decrease effectiveness (Abdollahi et al., 2018).
