resource-limited settings. What innovative cost-saving strategies can be implemented
to enhance quality care delivery in such settings?

Q1. As a nurse leader, what strategies can you implement to balance the cost of quality

with client outcomes?

One strategy useful in balancing the cost of quality with care outcomes would be

establishing a lean culture. Lean methodology emphasizes creating maximum patient value by

reducing waste and boosting efficiency. ‘Value’ refers to actions that enhance patient care. Lean

enables nurses to spot and eliminate non-value-adding tasks—those that use resources without

contributing to patient care (Zimmermann et al., 2020). For instance, value stream mapping, a

visual tool in Lean methodology, helps represent the current state of a process and design its

future state. In nursing, it can identify inefficiencies in patient care. The first step in creating a

value stream map for nursing processes is to document all steps in a specific patient care cycle.
