Specific purpose: Educate my audience about anxiety, let them know about types of anxiety and
inform about treatments .
Thesis: Anxiety is one of the most common mental disorders that is not just about a feeling of
nervousness. Anxiety is a big topic and it can be seen connected in different forms such as panic
attacks, phobia, and social anxiety. Anxiety can be normal in stressful situations until inteffer
your daily living
Outline:
1. Introduction:
a. Attention Getting Device- Imagine getting up every day worrying about your
financial situation, not knowing what you are going to live or eat tomorrow or
simply thinking obsessively what you are going to do to face a situation. You do
not know how to pay your debts... your hands begin to feel sweaty, your breathing
accelerates and you feel so much concern... You have to wake up thinking of
thousands of things that have not yet happened; but in a certain aspect you are
afraid of what might happen in the future.
b. Introduce Material- “Over 40 million adults in the U.S. (19.1%) have an anxiety
disorder.” (Anxiety disorders) Anxiety can be triggered by many reasons or by
traumatic episodes. It is difficult to deal with anxiety and more so when other
mental illnesses are triggered together with anxiety.

a. (Main Point 1) What is anxiety and symptoms
Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical
changes like increased blood pressure. The physical symptoms such as sweating, trembling,
dizziness or a rapid heartbeat. (American Psychological Association )
i. Sub point- When a person experiences anxiety disorders they have more than a temporary
fear. Anxiety disorders as time goes by, anxiety gets worse and if it is not identified and
treated it can interfere with tranquility and peace of a person.
A. Anxiety causes people to put the problem aside and withdraw from uncomfortable
situations.
B. Anxiety can interfere with work, school, and relationships
C. Anxiety causes it to affect someone's image and self-esteem

1. Behavioral: stress or sensitivity to certain situations. (It can cause intense emotional
reactions, anxiety and impulsive patterns of behaviour.)
2. Lack of concentration, racing thoughts, unwanted thoughts
3. Fatigue or sweating
