one-page calendar to plan your work. Schedule weekly tasks for Part 2 (practical/creative
work) from February until the deadline on May 17th, covering a total of 12 weeks. Keep the
calendar visible daily to track your progress. Include this calendar in your final portfolio. Task
2: Essay on Ted Hughes’s Essay (15 Points) Write a 200-250 word essay about Ted Hughes's
essay “Capturing Animals” (found in e Reserve). Focus on his advice on page 18 about how
poets should engage with their subjects. Remember to read the entire essay (pages 15-22)
before writing. Task 3: Essay on Paula Larocque’s Tips (15 Points) After reading Paula
Larocque’s “Time-saving tips for writing fiction” (pages 33-34, available on e-Reserves), write
a 200-250 word essay. Discuss the best tips for writing short stories, using your own
examples to show how these tips influenced your Part 2 story. Task 4: South African Drama
Research (10 Points) Research student theatre productions from the 2017 Grahamstown Arts
Festival. Download the program from the festival’s website or e-Reserves. Write a 200-250
word essay about your favorite drama, discussing how its themes inspire your own drama
writing. Refer to the student drama summaries on pages 71 to 74 in the program. Total
