106.4.3 Expiration ✅✅correct answ-Every permit issued by the code official under the provisions
of this code shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the work authorized by such
permit is not commenced within 180 days from the date of such permit, or if the work authorized by
such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180
days. Before such work recommences, a new permit shall be first obtained and the fee therefore
shall be one-half of the amount required for a new permit for such work, provided that changes
have not been made and will not be made in the original construction documents for such work, and
provided further that each suspension or abandonment has not exceeded one year.
109.1 Applicatoin for appeal ✅✅correct answ-A person shall have the right to appeal a decision of
the code official to the board of appeals. An application for appeal shall be based on a claim that the
true intent of this code or the rules legally adopted thereunder have been incorrectly interpreted,
the provisions of this code do not fully apply, or an equally good or better form of construction is
proposed. The application shall be filled on a form obtained from the code official within 20 days
after the notice was served.
Exception ✅✅correct answ-Where equipment and appliance replacements or repairs must be
preformed in an emergency situation, the permit application shall be submitted within the next
working business day of the department of mechanical inspection.
106.2 Permits not required ✅✅correct answ-1) Portable heating appliances
2) Portable ventilation appliances and equipment
3) Portable cooling units
4) Steam, hot water, or chilled water piping within any heating or cooling equipment or appliances
regulated by this code.
5) The replacement of any minor part that does not alter the approval of equipment or an appliance
or make such equipment or appliance unsafe.
6) Portable evaporative coolers
7) Self-contained refrigeration systems that contain 10 pounds (4.5 kg) or less of refrigerant, or that
are actuated by motors of 1 horsepower (0.75 kW) or less.
8) Portable fuel cell appliances that are not connected to a fixed piping system and are not
interconnected to a power grid.
