Exam Policy - ANS-- Students are required to bring ten (10) pink UCF scantrons complete with 100
questions to lab before the first exam.
- Students have the option to complete a cumulative final exam that takes the place of the lowest
lecture exam score. The final can only help not hurt student grades. If you score lower on the final than
any previous lecture exam, the final exam score will not count for anything

Make-Up Exam Policy - ANS-- Make-up exams may be granted for documented excused absences.
- Students must contact the professor 24-hours before the start of the exam to be considered for a
make-up. The standard extension for exams is one day unless otherwise stated

Homework Policy - ANS-Students must contact the professor within 24-hours of a missed assignment to
request late work submission.

Quiz Policy - ANS-- Students will have two attempts at each quiz, with only the highest score applied to
the overall course grade.
- Late work will be accepted at a deduction of 25% of the assigned grade per day after the due date.
- Students must contact the professor within 24-hours of a missed assignment to request late work
submission.

, Academic Integrity Policy - ANS-- Cheating in any form will not be tolerated and will result in an
automatic F for the course and a report filed with the Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity.
- If a cell phone is observed in your testing area, it will result in an automatic zero for the exam.

Student Conduct in the Classroom Policy - ANS-Cheating, plagiarism, and disruptive behavior are not
allowed in the classroom.

How to send an email - ANS-Emails should always be written in a professional manner, containing an
appropriate greeting, your name, class and section, question or concern utilizing complete sentences,
and closing

Vertebral Column - ANS-- Forms the basic structure of the trunk, consisting of 33-34 vertebrae and
intervertebral disks.
- 7 cervical, 12 thoracic, 5 lumbar, 5 sacral, and 4-5 coccygeal vertebrae.

Intervertebral Disks (Fibrocartilage) - ANS-- Functions to absorb shock, assure no friction between the
bones, and facilitate movements of the vertebral column.
- Lies between the vertebrae

Primary Curvatures - ANS-Thoracic and sacral curvatures that are present at birth and convex
posteriorly.

Secondary Curvatures - ANS-- Cervical and lumbar curvatures that develops when we begin to walk and
concaves posteriorly.
- Babies develop their cervical curvatures in their first six months when moving around their necks, and
then in their second six months, develops their lumbar curvature through walking.

Scoliosis - ANS-- Spine is "S' or "C" shaped.
- IS a pathology of the spine.
- If caught early on in childhood, can be prevented through use of braces, if not, surgery is needed.

Kyphosis - ANS-- Thoracic spine curves outward.
- Is NOT a pathology of the spine.
- Usually caused from aging, and also involves a decrease in bone density with female patients.

Lordosis - ANS-- Lumbar spine curves inward.
- Is NOT a pathology of the spine.
- Individuals can be born with this or can develop it through physical activity.

Cervical Vertebrae - ANS-- Seven Cervical Vertebrae (C1-C7), considered the smallest and lightest of
vertebrae.
- C3-C7 are typical cervical vertebrae, with laterally wider bodies, short and bifid spinous processes, and
large triangular foramen.
- Their transverse processes contain transverse foramina and vertebral arteries, and their superior
articular facets face superior-posteriorly.
- This is the largest that the spinal cord is going to be as it travels.

C1 (Atlas) - ANS-- Lacks a body and spinous process.
