Aspirin class: analgesic
-dont give with other anticoagulants
-stop taking this drug a week before surgery
-dont give to children with viral infections because it can cause Reyes syndrome
NSAIDS (ibuprofen) class: analgesic
-contraindicated with GI ulcers
Opioids (morphine) class: analgesics
-causes respiratory depression, will need to closely monitor respiratory status
-antidote = naloxone
Dilantin (Phenytoin) class: anticonvulsant
-causes gum hyperplasia, patient needs regular dental checkups
-monitor for therapeutic levels (10-20)
