For this 2nd assignment, I will begin by describing the process of material preparation. &
marking out when producing fabricated structures.
Materials Used:
- Sheet Material Aluminium
- Acrylic
Tools Used:
- Drill Stands: I used this machine to drill holes through my sheet metal simply
because it is excellent for light work.
- Drill Bit: When drilling, the drill bit used was the Twist Drill, which comes in a variety
of sizes (most common ones range between 1mm to 10mm in diameter). The drill
used for my sheet metal was on the larger side, so I had to use a scribe to create a
little dent for the twist drill to be stable.
- Scriber: Used to mark out on metal for holes as well as cutting out parts not needed.
- Compass/Dividers: This is to accurately mark out a measurement to be the
diameter/radius required.
- Protractor: Used to measure angles accurately.
- Steel Try Square: This is to precisely measure that the corners are at a right angle.
- Steel Rule: Used for measuring small distances
- Centre Punch: This tool is used to create a larger dent after a prick punch for drilling.
- Prick Punch: Used to create small dents.
- Metal File: This file is used to file metallic materials.
The process of marking out that I used when producing fabricated structures are as
followed:
Scriber Compass/Dividers
Protractor
Steel Try Square
Steel Rule
Centre Punch
Prick Punches
