The MyFitnessPal app is a great and free resource app for the population to
use that can help with tracking physical activity, nutrition, weight goals, and
overall physical health.
Primary Prevention: this app encourages the users to track their diet intake
and includes their macro information to show how much sodium, protein,
fats, etc. are in their everyday diets to make them more aware of what is
being put in their bodies. It also encourages daily activities and logging
those whether that be running, weightlifting, yoga, Pilates, or other sports
activities. This can help to prevent chronic diseases that have associations
with unhealthy lifestyles.
Secondary Prevention: the app also includes a metric tracking system from
the time you begin using the app and entering your information including
height, weight, BMI, and body type and continue to track as you input over
time. This can include a timeline of weight fluctuation and if diet and
exercise that is also being logged is a contributing factor and empowers the
user to identify if they have any signs or symptoms of issues in their health
and taking proactive measures to ensure their overall wellbeing.
